I recently attended the Energy Institute’s training on the Hearts and Minds Toolkit. This is a set of resources which enables companies to determine where they currently sit on the Safety Culture ladder and develop an action plan to improve. What I really like about this methodology is that it isn’t formulaic. The tools are all adaptable to meet a company’s individual requirements and the emphasis is on involving people at all levels to really make a difference. So much about Safety Culture is about how we set people up to succeed or fail: basic Human Factors thinking!
